after the dog flew away mum was mad with dad for not fixing the net like he said he would and dad was grumpy because he knew he should have fixed the net like he said he would and the yard was quiet without the swooshing of the dog’s wings and there was no chance of getting licked on the back of the neck when you least expected it
and i had to pretend i was sad but it was me who tore the net hole bigger and unclipped the dog’s chain and he flew around for a bit and didn’t leave because i was there and so i said goodbye and went inside and then when i wasn’t looking he found the net hole and flew away to probably join one of those roaming flocks you see.
